ISMail Pro integrates support for Anti-Virus scanning at the mail server level. The Anti-Virus scanner is automatically run on all messages flowing through the server, regardless of whether they are incoming or outgoing messages. Scanning extends to include messages sent between ISMail users.
Complete scanning insures that viruses are prevented from reaching ISMail mailboxes and that ISMail users do not inadvertently send viruses to other users. This reduces the threat of viruses, helps stop their spread, and reduces embarassment to ISMail users whose systems may have become infected with viruses that replicate through email.
ISMail Pro can use almost any DOS command-line based Anti-Virus scanner.
Scanners used include:
Anti-Virus program configuration information is available in the FAQ.
The Anti-Virus system can be configured to delete virus-infected messages, append an identifying line to the header of any message containing a virus, or forward it to a designated account for tracking purposes.
The intended recipient and/or sender of the message can also be notified.
ISMail Pro logs all Anti-Virus scan activity, indicating the time the message was processed, the message sender, intended recipient, and whether a virus was found.
