Detailed List of Features:

• Account Disable: disable sending, while still allowing account 'read' access.
• Account Forwarding: redirect or forward messages to one or more email addresses. Optionally keep a copy of messages in the account being forwarded.
• Account Quotas: limit mailbox sizes. Define for entire system, per domain, and/or per account.
• Account Unknown: account 'nobody' will accept messages to unknown accounts on a domain. Messages can be stored in this account or forwarded to any email address. (If 'nobody' does not exist, messages to unknown accounts are refused).
• Anti-spam Filters: 6 levels of defense against spam (Blocked IPs, Blacklists, Reverse DNS Checking, Real-time Blackhole (RBL) Lists, Greylists, built-in and custom content filters). Actions on detecting a spam message include deleting, forwarding, or marking a header in the message. The Whitelist, Blacklist, and content filters are configurable at the global, domain, or account-level.
• Anti-Virus Scanner: runs any command-line anti-virus scanner on all messages (incoming and outgoing).
• Archival: archive all messages sent or received for auditing and corporate accountability.
• Authentication: controls access to ISMail (types of Authentication include: Login, Trusted IPs, and SMTP Authentication).
• Autoresponders: each account can automatically send a response when a message is received.
• Backup/Restore: scheduled backups for system configuration, domain-level, and user account messages. Full and partial backup and restore supported.
• Blacklist / Whitelist: messages from specific IP addresses, domains, or email accounts may be blocked ('blacklisted') or accepted unconditionally ('whitelisted').
• Connections (incoming): limit total number of incoming connections and number of incoming connections from a single IP address.
• Connections (outgoing): adjust maximum number of simultaneous outgoing connections.
• Configuration Checker: on-line tool checks network port accessibility (through a router) and mail server configuration.

• IP-based Domains: one or more domains may send using specific IP addresses (on machines with multiple IPs). Server may also be set to receive using specific IP addresses.
• IP Blocking: deny connections for one or more IP addresses.
• List Server: automated list server with email-based subscribe and unsubscribe, member-only posting, subject line tagging, and member import functions.
• Logging: mail and content filter transactions are logged. User control over logging detail.
• Login Authentication: a POP3/IMAP4 account login can be used for Authentication.
• Mail Groups: use account forwarding to define groups (or lists) of mail accounts which will receive copies of messages sent to group account names

• Reverse DNS Check: verify that sender has reverse DNS entry. Helps protect against invalid senders.
• SmartHost: send messages directly to another mail server. Avoids dynamic IP, 'reverse DNS lookup', firewall, and port blocking issues. SmartHost may be used for all messages, or only when message delivery fails. SMTP Authentication may be used with SmartHost. SmartHost port may optionally be specified (default: port 25).
• SMTP Authentication: supports PLAIN, LOGIN, NTLM, and/or CRAM-MD5 authentication methods with SMTP and SASL.
• Static or Dynamic IP Address: ISMail is domain name-based. It works over internet connections which use either a static or a dynamic IP address. Note: support from a dynamic DNS is required for dynamic IP addresses; performance on a dynamic IP may vary.
• Statistics: real-time statistics are kept for major SMTP server subsystems.
• Security: multiple types and levels of security control guard against attack and unauthorized access.
• Trusted IPs: one or more 'trusted' IP addresses may be used for Authentication.
• Virtual Domains: more than one domain can share the same server IP address.
• Web-based Mail Service Compatibility: works with web-based mail services (e.g. Mail2Web)
