ISMail Pro is secured against attack, unauthorized use, and abuse by a variety of systems and configuration settings. These include:
Account quotas: account quotas may be set to limit user account message storage space on the server. Quotas can be set for the entire server, for one or more domains, and/or for individual user accounts.
Anti-Virus Filters: each message processed by ISMail is scanned by a command-line Anti-Virus filter. The anti-virus filter finds and removes mail-borne viruses. It also prevents users from inadvertently sending messages infected with viruses to others, thus reducing the general spread of mail-borne viruses throughout the internet.
Disk Overflow: ISMail makes periodic checks of the disk free space on the server, and will automatically stop receiving messages if the disk becomes low on free storage.
DOS (Denial-of-Service) Attacks: ISMail is protected against DOS attacks by limiting the number of simultaneous connections from any IP address and also by limiting the total number of simultaneous connections from all sources.
Message size: the maximum message size is limited to 50MB by default. The maximum message size is configurable in ISMail Pro.
Relaying: ISMail does not operate as an 'open relay'. All message senders must be authenticated with to send mail. This prevents ISMail from being hijacked and used to send unauthorized messages.
SMTP Authentication: ISMail supports several methods of SMTP Authentication; this is currently the most secure way to protect the server against unauthorized use.
