Web Server: Directory Authentication
Directory Authentication controls access to the directories within a domain.
If a directory is set to require authentication, a visitor to that domain and directory is presented with a login screen on the first attempt to access any file in that directory. The username and password entered must match a valid web server account (of type 'Admin' or 'Other') for the domain.
The default is no authentication on any directories for any domains.
Note: authentication requires both a domain name and a directory name. If one domain shares a directory with another domain (i.e. they have the same document directory), then the directory name under both domains must have authentication set to fully restrict access to the directory. If authentication is not set for a shared directory in one domain, then no login is required to access that directory through that unauthenticated domain name.
